Our client an international design studio is seeking an exceptional Design Director / Creative Director to lead its Bangkok-based studio. This is a senior leadership role for a visionary design professional who can set creative direction, inspire multidisciplinary teams, and deliver world-class design outcomes across architecture and interior design portfolios.
You will be responsible for driving design excellence from concept through delivery, leading competition-winning ideas, mentoring senior designers, and ensuring the studio's creative output consistently meets the highest international standards. The role plays a critical part in shaping the studio's reputation, client relationships, and long-term growth across lifestyle, community, workplace, and mixed-use projects.
Key Responsibilities
Creative & Strategic Leadership
- Define and champion the studio's creative vision and design direction
- Lead the development of innovative, client-focused design concepts and presentations
- Drive competition and design pitch strategies, delivering winning creative outcomes
- Promote a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous design excellence
- Stay at the forefront of global design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
Design & Project Oversight
- Oversee the design process across multiple projects from concept to completion
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to exceptional quality standards
- Conduct regular design reviews and provide clear, actionable feedback
- Maintain design intent through documentation, coordination, and site reviews
Team Leadership & Studio Development
- Inspire, mentor, and lead design directors, senior designers, and design teams
- Support recruitment, performance management, and professional development
- Build a high-performing studio culture focused on innovation and learning
- Encourage the responsible integration of AI and digital tools into design workflows
Client, Marketing & Business Development
- Act as a key design ambassador in client meetings and presentations
- Collaborate with business development and marketing teams on proposals and pitches
- Contribute to award submissions, publications, and brand positioning
- Represent the studio at industry events, conferences, and design forums
Sustainability & Technology
- Integrate sustainable design principles across all projects
- Guide teams in the use of BIM, digital platforms, and generative design tools
- Balance AI-driven exploration with strong creative judgment and leadership
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design (Master's preferred)
- 15+ years' experience within leading architectural or interior design practices
- Proven leadership on complex, high-profile international projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design excellence, innovation, and creativity
- Track record of leading successful design competitions and pitches
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing experience
- Experience working in fast-paced, multicultural studio environments
- Registration with a recognised international professional body preferred
- Excellent written and spoken English
