Our client a leading interior design practice is seeking an experienced Associate Director - Interior Design to lead the site delivery of a landmark high-end residential and luxury hospitality project in Dubai. This is a senior, site-based leadership role responsible for ensuring design intent is delivered to the highest quality through construction, fit-out, and final handover.

The role requires exceptional technical knowledge, strong on-site coordination capability, and deep experience working with contractors, suppliers, and consultants in the UAE market.

Role Purpose

The Associate Director - Interior Design will take ownership of site execution, acting as the primary design authority on-site. You will ensure that interior works are delivered in line with approved design intent, specifications, and quality standards while managing stakeholders, resolving technical issues, and driving timely decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Design Delivery

  • Lead the on-site delivery of interior design packages for a large-scale luxury residential and hospitality project
  • Act as the primary point of contact on-site for all interior design matters
  • Ensure design intent is accurately implemented through construction and fit-out stages

Technical & Site Coordination

  • Review, coordinate, and approve interior shop drawings, mock-ups, and material submittals
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors, joinery specialists, FF&E suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Resolve site queries, RFIs, and design conflicts promptly and effectively
  • Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, MEP, and specialist consultants to ensure seamless integration

Quality Control & Materials

  • Monitor workmanship and finishes on-site to ensure compliance with specifications and luxury standards
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality reviews
  • Oversee sample reviews, mock-ups, and material approvals including stone, timber, metal, upholstery, and bespoke joinery

Programme & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with the contractor and project management team to maintain programme and sequencing
  • Participate in site meetings, technical workshops, and progress reviews
  • Support client-facing discussions, reporting progress and managing expectations

Leadership & Practice Representation

  • Represent the interior design practice on-site with authority and professionalism
  • Mentor and guide project designers and site-based team members
  • Support senior management in maintaining design excellence and client satisfaction

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years' professional experience, with at least 5+ years in the UAE
  • Proven experience delivering luxury residential and hospitality projects through site and fit-out stages
  • Strong on-site leadership and coordination experience on large, complex projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in site execution, detailing, and technical resolution

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of interior shop drawings, construction detailing, and site coordination
  • Strong understanding of materials, finishes, FF&E, bespoke joinery, and luxury fit-out processes
  • Proven experience working closely with contractors, suppliers, and specialist fabricators
  • Excellent knowledge of UAE construction practices, codes, and approval processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design documentation tools (Revit knowledge is an advantage)
